Brewers reach World Series; ALCS resumes after rainout
Milwaukee completed a four-game NLCS sweep, while Cleveland and Tampa Bay are scheduled to play the postponed ALCS Game 4 tonight.
Milwaukee wins the National League pennant
The Milwaukee Brewers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after completing a four-game National League Championship Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Milwaukee won the clincher 6–4 at Dodger Stadium.
The Brewers erased a four-run deficit, tying the largest comeback in a league-championship-series clincher. Garrett Mitchell's home run put Milwaukee ahead in the sixth inning, and David Hamilton added a ninth-inning insurance homer before Jackson Chourio caught the final out.
The result ends Los Angeles's attempt to win a third consecutive World Series. Milwaukee will host Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, October 23, at 8 p.m. Eastern, according to Major League Baseball's schedule.
Rain reshapes the American League schedule
The American League Championship Series remains unsettled. Friday's scheduled Game 4 between the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays was postponed because of inclement weather in Cleveland.
MLB rescheduled Game 4 for Saturday at 8:08 p.m. Eastern and Game 5 for Sunday at 5:08 p.m. Eastern. Cleveland leads the series two games to one. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, remain scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in St. Petersburg at 8:08 p.m. Eastern.
Fans holding tickets for the original Friday Game 4 may use them for Sunday's Game 5. Tickets originally issued for Saturday's Game 5 are valid for Saturday's rescheduled Game 4, MLB said.
Two very different championship-series paths
Milwaukee can now rest and set its pitching plan while Cleveland and Tampa Bay navigate consecutive games after the postponement. Rest can help a pitching staff recover, although a long layoff can also interrupt routine; neither effect guarantees a World Series advantage.
The Guardians and Rays must treat the updated schedule as authoritative because weather delays can change broadcast, travel and ticket arrangements. MLB says all remaining ALCS games will air on TNT Sports platforms, with national radio coverage from ESPN Radio.
The Brewers' sweep is a completed result; the American League timetable remains conditional. Game 6 and Game 7 will be played only if the series requires them.
For Milwaukee, the pennant marks the franchise's second World Series appearance and ends a 44-year absence. For Cleveland and Tampa Bay, Saturday's resumption begins a compressed stretch that could determine the opposing club by Tuesday night. The official postseason page should be checked before travel or viewing because start times remain subject to change.
Milwaukee’s comeback in the clincher was built across several innings rather than one decisive rally: two runs in the fourth, two in the fifth, the go-ahead homer in the sixth and an insurance run in the ninth. That sequence turned an early 4–0 deficit into the 6–4 final.
